What I most applaud about the service that Alex provides is that he approaches his service from many different angles. It is not just about providing a customized program to meet my changing needs. I have been training with the lab for 12 months now. In that time I have lost approximately 15 kilograms in weight and have completely transformed my body shape and metabolism. I would say that never in my life have I been this fit. Most importantly, never before in my life have I been able to achieve this. What has come into the equation is guidance from a highly qualified and supportive exercise physiologist. Whilst Alister guides me in extending my strength and fitness levels, he also monitors very closely all my activities so that my health and fitness improve without any injury or negative impact whatsoever.

The weight loss and fitness is great, but there are even more intangible benefits I am now enjoying. Somehow, my stressful job no longer feels so stressful, priorities are easier to see, and decision making comes more easily. Other “daily grind” activities don’t seem so bad either.

The other great thing is that I love to look at all the enjoyable activities I can now do and have the fitness to do- whether it’s going for a surf, or doing a yoga class. I have the energy and enjoy the moments for these things.

I started at The Lab after being advised on numerous occasions that my health would significantly benefit from reduced weight. I was not confident that I could do it on my own and therefore looked around for a personal trainer. The Labs’ approach seemed to fit in with me making it an obvious choice.

I have been training with Barry for about three months. In that time I have lost a significant amount of weight and am well on my way to achieving my target weight. I have also benefited from strengthening and conditioning and have learned more about the body in the process.

Training with Barry maximizes the benefit I get out of exercising. From the moment I get there, to the time I leave, I’m working pretty hard for the whole hour.
