
Exercise Science is the scientific study of human movement performed to maintain or improve physical fitness and health. It is a vibrant multi-disciplinary field that involves the knowledge, application and interaction of sub disciplines which include exercise physiology, exercise psychology, exercise and nutrition, health promotion, motor control and learning, biomechanics, and athletic performance.
Exercise Physiology is a sub discipline and specialist profession within the field of Exercise Science. It is an area that has grown rapidly in recent times due to an increase in knowledge and research within the area of physical conditioning and rehabilitation. Exercise Physiologists use the scientific application of exercise as a treatment strategy to help people with physical rehabilitation from chronic diseases and/or disabilities, prevention of disease, work hardening and enhancing physical fitness.
The Lab, provides ongoing exercise interventions and recommendations to optimise the rehabilitation, health and fitness of all clients. Every intervention is client centered, specifically targeted to the particular needs and goals of each individual.
The Lab provides services to a wide variety of clients including, but not limited to, individuals experiencing:
- Acute or chronic musculoskeletal injuries
- Postural deficits and/or abnormalities
- Neurological impairments
- Weight loss
- Chronic health problems (Diabetes, Hypertension, Arthritis, Osteoporosis etc)
